SOIL RECYCLING FACILITY

Winnipeg, Manitoba

CHALLENGE: A national petroleum marketing company required management of a facility for the remediation of hydrocarbon-impacted soil from bulk fuel storage and retail service outlets in Manitoba.

SOLUTION: Morrow was contracted to manage the Soil Recycling Facility (SRF). Management activities include development of soil sampling plans to monitor remedial progress, sampling of soils undergoing treatment and implementation of monitoring programs for soil, groundwater and surface water run-off. Morrow ensures the SRF operates in compliance with Manitoba Environment Act Licence requirements and prepares reports for submission to the regulatory authority that outline the remedial activities and results of SRF operation on a yearly basis.

Morrow prepared a decommissioning plan for the closure of the SRF in accordance with the Environment Act License to restore the site to its original commercial land use. This plan has since been submitted to Manitoba Conservation to comply with a requirement of the licence.
