CHALLENGE: Harmony Gold (Canada) Inc. was required to prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in support of an application for a Stage II Environment Act License under the Manitoba Environment Act for the operation of their 1200 TPD gold mine and mill operation in southeastern Manitoba.
SOLUTION: Morrow provided assistance to Harmony Gold in a number of areas that were critical to the preparation of the EIA and Environment Act License submission. Specifically, Morrow assisted in the development of the Tailings Management Area (TMA) development plan and TMA operating plan, developed a wastewater treatment strategy, conducted environmental baseline studies including water quality and toxicity testing, and developed a public information and consultation program.
