REGULATED BUILDING MATERIAL SURVEYVictoria, British Columbia
CHALLENGE: A number of buildings were slated for potential demolition at a cruise ship facility located at Ogden Point in Victoria, BC. Morrows review of work by a previous consultant revealed a number of data gaps that could lead to additional cost claims to the client when renovation and demolition occurred. SOLUTION: Morrow conducted a regulated building material survey program on a number of buildings at the cruise ship facility on behalf of a federal government agency. An asbestos assessment program was conducted on materials not assessed in the previous survey; a significant number of additional asbestos containing materials were identified. Morrow also completed regulated building material surveys on several other buildings not previously assessed that were slated for demolition. All asbestos containing materials were abated and reparations were made in buildings that were to remain occupied. All other regulated materials including; solid and liquid waste, PCBs, mercury, ozone depleting substances, and animal feces were removed and properly disposed of from the buildings slated for demolition. Buildings were demolished and all debris was properly disposed of. Morrow managed the entire project and made all the necessary arrangements with the client, tenant and various contractors. |
