CHALLENGE: Provide environmental compliance monitoring solutions at an operating plant site.
SOLUTION: The Owens Corning Canada Inc. Edmonton Insulation Plant is a 15.4 hectare manufacturing plan located along the North Saskatchewan River. The facility produces a variety of fibreglass batt and loose insulation products for use in the residential/commercial construction industry. Since 1997, Morrow has been managing the compliance monitoring programs specified in the Alberta Environment Operating Approval (Approval) for the facility. The project includes an annual groundwater monitoring program with sample collection and laboratory analyses to be completed to meet the conditions of the Approval. In addition, a soil monitoring program was prepared and conducted at the facility to comply with the conditions of the Approval. The project also includes separate monitoring programs for the discharge of domestic wastewater and industrial wastewater effluent streams. Annual reports detailing the results of each monitoring program are prepared on our client’s behalf and forwarded to Alberta Environment to confirm compliance.
