DOCKSIDE LANDSCity of Victoria Waterfront, Victoria BC
CHALLENGE: An approximately five (5) ha (~12 acre) property on the Victoria Harbour marine waterfront, formerly used for industrial and commercial purposes, has remained largely undeveloped for a number of years. Previous work by a number of consultants over a ten-year period indicated soil and groundwater contamination at the site; however, the data was incomplete and was not referenced to current standards. SOLUTION: Morrow was engaged by the City of Victoria to compile previous data, undertake supplementary soil and groundwater investigations, human and ecological risk assessments for selected portions of the site, develop remedial options and identify remedial costs. The remediation plans and estimated costs prepared by Morrow will allow the City to assess the cost/benefit of various land development scenarios; these development scenarios are the subject of current community consultations by the City of Victoria. Once these consultation are completed, remedial scenarios prepared by Morrow will be integrated into the chosen redevelopment strategies for the lands. |
